The Strategic Report should strictly NOT exceed 3,000 words and demonstrate clear report style with relevant Harvard references. It is to be a unified whole that answers three questions (see below) focused on the selected organisation. Formative work in weekly seminars will guide students through analytical techniques and processes required to complete the task. For the selected organisation, assume you are an outside consultancy reporting to the Chief Executive. The Strategic Report should:- 1). Identify 3 key strategic issues facing the organisation with a clear explanation of why they are strategic (20%). 2). Analyse fully the resources and key capabilities of the organisation plus key factors that give the company its competitive advantage. (40%) 3). Assess the extent to which the organisations competitive strategy addresses its strategic issues, and suggest improvements where they
might be justified. (30%)

Determine means and the upper and lower control limits for x and R 1 answer below »

West Battery Corp. has recently been receiving complaints from retailers that its 9-volt batteries are not lasting as long as other name brands. James West, head of the TQM program at West's Austin plant, believes there is no problem because his batteries have had an average life of 50 hours, about 10% longer than competitors' models. To raise the lifetime above this level would require a new level of technology not available to West. Nevertheless, he is concerned enough to set up hourly assembly line checks. Previously, after ensuring that the process was running properly, West took size n = 5 samples of 9-volt batteries for each of 25 hours to establish the standards for control chart limits. Those samples are shown in the following table:

The Vintage Restaurant is owned and operated by Kelly. The restaurant just completed its 3rd year of operation. To better plan for the future growth of the restaurant, Kelly needs to develop a system that will enable her to forecast food and beverage sales by month for up to one year in advance. The attached table shows the value of food and beverage sales ($1,000s) for the first three years of operation.Perform an analysis of the sales data for the Vintage Restaurant. Prepare a report for Kelly that summarizes your findings, forecasts, and recommendations. Include the following:A time series plot. Comment on the underlying pattern in the time series.Using the dummy variable approach, forecast sales for January through December of the fourth year. How would you explain this model to Karen? Assume that January sales for the fourth year turn out to be $295,000. What was your forecast error? If this is large, Karen may be puzzled about the difference between your forecast and the actual sales value. What can you do to resolve her uncertainty about the forecasting procedure?Month123456789101112131415161718192021222324252627282930313233343536 Sales242235232178184140145152110130152206263238247193193149157161122130167230282255265205210160166174126148173235
