Terrorism in perspective

Application: Post-9/11 Legislation

Note: The Application Assignment is due BEFORE the Discussion this week.

In an effort to better prevent and prepare for terrorist attacks and strengthen national security following 9/11, the U.S. government enacted new legislation. Congress passed several legislative acts, such as the Transportation Security Act, Homeland Security Act, Comprehensive Security Act, and USA Patriot Act, to help federal, state, and local governments ensure public safety as well as identify and foil terrorist activities before they are carried out. In the readings this week, you explore these legislative acts and discover why some have been more effective than others in strengthening national security.
