  • From the first e-Activity, suggest the major reasons why a well-integrated communication process is important for the performance of any organization and the major reasons why such a process is particularly important in health care organizations. Support your response with at least (2) examples of communication methods used within the researched health care facility in your community.

Performance Appraisals

“Performance Appraisals and the Law”  Please respond to the following:

  • According to the material in Chapter 9, most employee complaints related to performance evaluations are based on alleged violations of employment law. Determine what you think would be a common complaint that could have legal consequences. Propose a strategy that HR could implement to reduce the number of these types of employee complaints.

healthcare organization’s philosophy

NO PLAGIARISM

Locate an example of a policy or guideline from an external source to a healthcare organization. Explain how this policy or guideline may be a constraint to a healthcare organization’s planning, or how it may shape the healthcare organization’s philosophy. For example, given that the American Academy of Pediatrics offers guidelines on child vaccinations, these guidelines might impact the ability of the healthcare organization to deliver services to newborns and infants. Using a similar example, as well as the characteristics of effective plans as your framework, discuss how proper planning can help organizations in their future decision making.

measuring performance

NO PLAGIARISM

The control process involves three phases that are cyclic: establishing standards, measuring performance, and correcting deviations. Examine the manner in which health care leaders progress through each phase of the control process to manage organizations.  What is the management function of controlling as related to performance improvement?  What tools are used to measure and monitor performance?  Please describe at least two functions and two tools in your response.

high drug areas

The checklist I chose came from Department of Transportation cite. I live in a rural part of Kentucky, where the average person who lives outside of city limits, lives miles away from a proper walkway/sidewalk. If I wanted to walk on a sidewalk I could have to drive into the city and find a place to start and then decide a place to stop. While most people would say go to the local park, I would not take my child there, because the small inadequate parks that are available are drug riddled and you do not know what kind of shady people will be there. Two things that can be done to improve my community are safer parks, so cleaning up the high drug areas would be important, but difficult. Secondly what sidewalks there are would need to be significantly repaired, as the current sidewalks are cracked and extremely difficult to push a stroller on. I have learned that within my community the only people who do walk and utilize are those with either no transportation (can’t drive for various reasons) or those that are begging on the side of the road (this is not uncommon, but it is however rare.) A second thing I have learned is that the sketchy parks are located near apartment complexes that have the cops called to on at least a weekly basis for various drug related circumstances. I believe this was done in order to help the children that live in those situations have a way to go and play outside, but it makes for an unsafe environment for those children and my own. Unfortunatel, I do not see any of this changing in the near future, so just getting up and going walking where I live currently has to be back in the field with no stroller, so I’ll have to wait until my baby is a little more capable.

public health programs

 hi dear,

I just need to 2 responses to the Discussions, and about 100 words for each responses.

1. The Las Vegas incident was an infamous event that should have never happened. Although it was an unfortunate incident, public health programs can be provided and developed for future preventions. New programs can be developed in ways to prevent shootings to occur by giving resources and knowledge on how to protect themselves from these incidences. There have been way too many shooting incidents and this should start with the government rather than the public health programs. Once the government has made a move then public health programs should follow and begin to develop programs to help prevent future catastrophes. The type of injuries that can result from this incident are shot wounds, broken bones from running and tripping over themselves because people were in panic mode and had to run for their lives. First responders can be exposed to shot wounds and broken bones as well. Furthermore, each individual should take a stand in helping build and develop public health programs for those affected by catastrophes such as the Las Vegas shooting. It’s imperative that the government should take action in furthering protecting it’s citizens from horrific events because if no one takes action then more incidents like these will continue to occur.

patient’s needs

Share an experience where you cared for a patient in the healthcare setting who was from a culture different from your own. How did you accommodate this patient’s needs? How would you apply the Purnell Model to future cultural encounters?
Which one of the twelve domains of culture from the Purnell Model do you feel is most important? Why?

Cultural accommodation is a priority in healthcare and daily life. Nursing professionals must willingly adapt to different cultures to provide excellent service. Cultural competence is a requirement that increases awareness of not only patients but also of the socioeconomic status. Paying special attention to the patient’s needs will also build rapport, reassure patient and provide a safe and comfortable environment.
A couple of Asian and Hispanic decent was accompanied to the inpatient rehab unit. The male patient of 86 years was the patient admitted with a left hemorrhagic stroke and right sided weakness. The husband was Spanish and could not follow simple commands in English. The wife was 83 years old and was of Asian descent but spoke fluent Spanish, but could not relate in English. This was proven to be a tough task during the admission process. However, I realized that by smiling and speaking slowly the husband/patient became more cooperative. The uncertainty of asking questions and receiving incomplete or no response was a major concern. Instead of panicking, the idea of utilizing the hospital policy for communication arose. The “blue” phone was the answer to the problem, so it was retrieved from storage and communication was in full effect. This communication device was used to call a medical interpreter instead of relying on a family member.
In addition, the nonverbal communication was a dominant component to displaying cultural competency. Smiling with the patient and wife was sufficient in gaining their trust. The Purnell model helped to certify how important competence, patience and cultural accommodation is. By initiating this model, the nurse will understand that patient population continues to change and become more diverse than once before. The most important domain in the Purnell model is communication because this transcends across all cultures. With proper communication, patients, family and clinical professionals may become more competent and culturally aware.
