Famous Psychologist Project:

Imagine some of the most influential psychologists have resurfaced and are determined to have their philosophies take precedence in today’s society. As a student of Psychology, you have been assigned to interview one of these psychologists and to present him or her to the American Psychological Association for the position of President. Your job will be to conduct thorough research on your chosen psychologist and prepare a creative PowerPoint presentation recommending your famous psychologist for the prestigious position.

  • Other psychologists not listed may be chosen with instructor approval.

Required Assignment Components

Students are required to create a PowerPoint presentation with a minimum of 15 slides. Include, at minimum, all areas noted below as well as a Title Slide and Reference Slide. Your project is to be prepared in APA style and include a minimum of 3 credible references, as well as in-text citations, throughout the presentation.

  • Biographical Information
    • Life span, place of birth, family life, education, personality, interesting or notable facts
  • Perspectives
    • Why did this psychologist become interested in psychology?
    • What does this theorist believe is the underlying cause of behavior?
    • What does this theorist think is the best approach to understanding behavior?
  • Major Theories and Research
    • Describe each theory
    • Why was this theory significant?
  • How does this psychologist’s theories compare to other theorists?
    • Choose at least 2 of the psychologist’s peers and compare their theories with those of your psychologist.
    • Why is your psychologist’s perspective superior?
  • Your recommendation:
    • Why should this psychologist be named president of the American Psychological Association?
      • Support your response with the following information:
