For this assignment please first read pages 135-138 in your text: “Current Controversies: Gender Based Violence Against Immigrant and Refugee Women: Heightened Vulnerabilities and Barriers to Help- Seeking. “

Choose either Gender Based Violence in Immigrant and Refugee Communities or Migration & Vulnerabilities to Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation of Women and Girls and complete the following:

1.      In the first paragraph briefly summarize the reading corresponding to the topic you choose.

2.      Update the statistics (conduct research via VCU library and government/non-profit web sites) and relate what you read to the reading (@ 1 paragraph)

3.      Considering the current controversies and issues that are NOW being faced by immigrants and refugees who are coming (or trying to) to the U. S., first briefly describe the situations immigrating women and girls may be facing today. 

4.      Finally, use the information to take a position on the current status of immigrants and refugees and describe what you think could / should be done. 

Note:  You may want to think about whether or not those who are making & enforcing current policies are aware of these vulnerabilities and possible outcomes of such policies. 

Your paper should be at least 3 pages in length, 1” margins, double spaced.
