Apply the three basic marketing strategies.

Marketing strategies provide direction for marketing efforts that support the goals of the strategic plan. There are three basic marketing strategies:

  • Undifferentiated Strategy
  • Focus Market Strategy
  • Segmented Strategy

For this discussion, you will select an appropriate marketing strategy for each of the following long-term care organizations:

  • Happy Valley Health Care is an 80-bed, rural long-term care organization with little to no competition. Over the years, the organization has been able to meet the needs of its marginalized customer base and provide long-term care, skilled care, and physical therapy to its patients.
  • Sunny Valley Health Care is a 150-bed, urban long-term care organization that specializes in renal care, cardiac patients, and skilled care for orthopedic patients undergoing knee and hip replacement surgery.
  • Green Acres Health Care is a 300-bed, inner city long-term care organization that specializes in caring for elderly patients with dementia often associated with Alzheimer’s disease and traumatic brain injuries.

For your initial post, Select one specific marketing strategy for each of the long-term care organizations noted above. In your post, explain the following:

  • Why you chose the strategy for that long-term care organization
  • Which of the three marketing strategies would best fit the goals of your chosen HCO
  • How the strategy would be applied to your marketing plan

Must use at least three scholarly sources, 2 from Ashford U library.

Walden University Immune Function and Wellness Discussion

Immune Function and Wellness

Unlike medicine which restores wellness, vaccines are used to improve immune function to maintain wellness. On the surface, vaccines might seem counterproductive with their contents consisting of antigens from the disease being prevented. However, most vaccines use dead antigens to activate the humoral immune response. This response releases antibodies to respond to specific antigens. This exposure prepares the immune system to respond should it encounter the same antigens in nature. Yet, the immune response also can detract from wellness as in the case of the overactive immune functioning of asthma. As a health psychology professional, understanding immune functioning can help you to suggest interventions that work with the body’s responses.

For this Assignment, select one of the following immune system responses: humoral response, antigen response, or cell-mediated immunity. Next, search the Walden Library for articles that discuss a disease or aspect of wellness associated with that response. Then, consider a cognitive/behavioral intervention, a complementary/alternative modality, or a lifestyle change that might influence the immune response to improve immune function and wellness.

The Assignment (3–5 pages):

Submit an APA-formatted essay that includes the following:

  • A description of the immune system response you selected and an aspect of wellness or disease associated with that immune system response
  • An explanation of the relationship between the immune system response you selected and its associated aspect of wellness or disease
  • An explanation of a cognitive/behavioral intervention that might influence that immune response to improve immune function and wellness
  • An explanation of a complementary/alternative modality or lifestyle change that might work to improve immune function and wellness or reduce disease

Support your Assignment with specific references to all resources used in its preparation. You are to provide a reference list for all resources, including those in the Learning Resources for this course.

Assessment Tools Diagnostics Growth Measurement & Nutrition in Adults & Children Paper

Assessment Tools, Diagnostics, Growth, Measurement, and Nutrition in Adults and Children

Many experts predict that genetic testing for disease susceptibility is well on its way to becoming a routine part of clinical care. Yet many of the genetic tests currently being developed are, in the words of the World Health Organization (WHO), of “questionable prognostic value.”

—Leslie Pray, PhD

Obesity remains one of the most common chronic diseases in the United States. As a leading cause of United States mortality, morbidity, disability, healthcare utilization and healthcare costs, the high prevalence of obesity continues to strain the United States healthcare system (Obesity Society, 2016).  More than one-third (39.8%) of U.S. adults have obesity (CDC, 2018). The estimated annual medical cost of obesity in the U.S. was $147 billion in 2008 U.S. dollars; the medical costs for people who are obese were $1,429 higher than those of normal weight (CDC, 2018).

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the rate of childhood obesity has tripled in the past 30 years, with an estimated 13.7 million children and adolescents considered obese (CDC, 2018). When seeking insights about a patient’s overall health and nutritional state, body measurements can provide a valuable perspective. This is particularly important with pediatric patients. Measurements such as height and weight can provide clues to potential health problems and help predict how children will respond to illness. Nurses need to be proficient at using assessment tools, such as the Body Mass Index (BMI) and growth charts, in order to assess nutrition-related health risks and pediatric development while being sensitive to other factors that may affect these measures. Body Mass Index is also used as a predictor for measurement of adult weight and health.

Assessments are constantly being conducted on patients, but they may not provide useful information. In order to ensure that health assessments provide relevant data, nurses should familiarize themselves with test-specific factors that may affect the validity, reliability, and value of these tools.

This week, you will explore various assessment tools and diagnostic tests that are used to gather information about patients’ conditions. You will examine the validity and reliability of these tests and tools. You will also examine assessment techniques, health risks and concerns, and recommendations for care related to patient growth, weight, and nutrition.

Learning Objectives

Students will:

  • Analyze diversity considerations in health assessments
  • Apply concepts, theories, and principles related to examination techniques, functional assessments, and cultural and diversity awareness in health assessment
  • Apply assessment skills to collect patient health histories

Potential Consequences of Reducing Healthcare Spending Discussion

Current Healthcare Spending

Healthcare spending is affecting the overall economy. Revenue for healthcare in the United States is a mix between various governmental sources, like Medicare and Medicaid and private sources. (Baker, Baker, & Dworkin, 2018). Compared to other industrialized nations, the United States spends twice as much on healthcare and healthcare spending accounted for 18% of the Gross Domestic Product three years ago. (Commins, 2018). Federal spending on healthcare programs is expected to be the largest spending category unless current laws change; due to the aging population as well as the rising cost of health care per person. (Banthin, 2017).

Potential Consequences of Reducing Healthcare Spending

Reduction in health care spending can have multiple consequences. If the Federal government spends less on Medicare and Medicaid services, then it could potentially finance other programs and also reduce the national debt. (Cohn, 2014). The reduction in spending could also benefit individuals and their families by allowing them to see more money in their paychecks and spend money on other necessities. (Cohn, 2014). The current state of health care spending will consume the largest share of the budget and increase debt overall. Therefore, finding ways to reduce health care spending should be priority.

Who Should Make Health Care Spending Decisions

Businesses, consumers, the Federal Government, insurance companies, policy makers and healthcare organizations are just some of the stake holders that should be involved in health care decisions. Health care spending affects different stake holders in different ways, therefore all should be involved in the decisions making in order to reach a decision and benefits all involved, especially patients.

Volcanic Activity Lab Report

Don’t forget to begin your lab with a cover sheet and an introduction.

For this report, answer each discussion type question with one or two paragraphs that provide the answer with justification. For numerical answers, give the number and how it was determined (where it was found online, show calculations, etc).

1) What is effusive volcanic activity and how does it help planets to form their crusts?

2) Find the radius and mass of Mercury. Using the search engine of your choice, determine how long ago Mercury ceased to be volcanic. As a result, roughly how long was Mercury volcanic?

3) Find the radius and mass of Mars. Using the search engine of your choice, determine how long ago Mars ceased to be volcanic. As a result, roughly how long was Mars volcanic?

4) Find the radius of both Venus and Earth and give the average of these two values. Repeat for the mass of both Venus and Earth. Based on your answers to questions (2) and (3), are you surprised that Earth and Venus are still volcanic? Why or why not?

5) What type of volcano is Olympus Mons? How did it form? What is the height of Olympus Mons?

6) What is the tallest volcano on Earth? Explain how plate tectonics results in smaller volcanoes on Earth even though Earth has been volcanic longer than Mars. You may wish to consider the formation of the Hawaiian Islands to help you with this question.

7) Research how the Tharsis Region on Mars formed. How did the lack of plate tectonics lead to such a violent event?

8) Consider your answers to questions (6) and (7). Give your opinion as to whether or not Mars’ habitability is affected by these events. There is no right answer, but you must explain why you gave the answer you did.

Finally, don’t forget the conclusion.

HMLS Issue Analysis

This paper is a review of a current homeland security issue and one that affects the US. You will prepare five to seven pages (not including the cover or reference pages) exploring the issue presented. An abstract is not required. Follow the guidelines in either Course Content or in the conference. You must post your selection in this conference. The paper is due at the end of week 6 and must be submitted in your Assignment folder. Review the late policy above. Current issues include but are not limited to border control, funding allocation, infrastructure, cyber warfare, biotechnology, intelligence, transportation security, incident response, civil liberties, resource allocation, capabilities, and immigration (the guideline provides further topics). Make sure you can identify an issue relating to a topic. A narrow topic is easier to write than a too broad topic.
