Introduction to Health Policy in the United States, health & medical homework help

1,500-2,000 words, not including cover or reference pages

Write an executive summary of a recent (within the past 2 years) article from the online library related to health care policy processes that is centered on improving health care quality and outcomes. Your summary must include the following:

  • Describe the health policy development process and the roles that various stakeholders have in that process associated with the article.
  • Include a brief description of the key health policy issues, and evaluate the potential of these issues to transform health care delivery in the United States.
  • Assess how this health care policy will impact the structure of the health care industry and the distribution of resources and services.
  • It should be 1,500–2,000 words, in APA format, and with 4 quality references, 2 of which are from peer-reviewed sources.

Benefits of Outsourcing Services

Many companies benefit from outsourcing services because it allows the company to lower costs, focus on their organizational culture, and increase the speed and quality of services.

Imagine you have been asked to analyze how the outsourced service interacts with your company’s clients.

Read and select 1 of the following scenarios to complete the assignment.

  1. In 2009, the U.S. Stimulus Act changed the way providers use electronic health records. A local clinic was informed that to avoid penalties they would need to adopt a qualified electronic health records (EHR) system. The clinic managers discussed two options: 1) adopting an in-house EHR system and 2) outsourcing the EHRs. After weighing the pros and cons of each option, the company decided to outsource the EHRs.
  2. Recent research shows that many companies are starting to explore the idea of outsourcing for their human resources department. A large pharmaceutical company has begun discussion about outsourcing their human resources department.
  3. Atwood Laboratories is a small company that completes lab work and bills its patients using two staff members. A larger laboratory in the neighborhood closed its doors recently, which has increased Atwood’s patients and billing. The company is considering outsourcing its patient billing to accommodate the influx of patients.

Write a 700- to 1,050-word paper that includes the following

  • Identify the relationship of the outsourced service and what impact it has on the organizational structure.
  • Describe the benefit and alignment of outsourcing services on organizational culture.
  • Describe how a company can align the client experience with the outsourced service along with your organizational culture.
  • Cite 3 peer-reviewed, scholarly, or similar references to support your paper.

Format your paper according to APA guidelines.

Energy and the laws of thermodynamics

You will prepare an APA-style research paper to discuss energy topics, as follows:

  • In your own words, describe the laws of thermodynamics.
  • Explain how these scientific laws apply to energy use, energy conversions, and the need for energy efficiency.
  • Describe the pros and cons of the following energy types, writing 1 paragraph for each:
    • Fossil fuel: Oil, natural gas, and coal
    • Nuclear energy
    • Solar energy
    • Wind power
    • Water (hydro) power
    • Bioconversion (biofuel)
  • Research and describe 2 provisions of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
    • Describe each provision, and provide your opinion about how each provision helps the United States meet energy use goals.

Hazard Vulnerability Analysis questions

Hi, I have 2 of my classmate posts. I need you to respond to each one separately. , one source at least for each one of them.

about
how good their posts or how bad.

need
to do is to choose one point of the post and explore it a little bit with one source support for each response. The paper should be APA style

the
question was:

Based on your readings and experience, comment on the effectiveness of HVAs. Are they too subjective? How would you approach

developing
an HVA?

Develop an HVA for a hospital in your community. Provide details on the hospital (bed numbers, location,

Hazard vulnerability analysis

Disasters can occur at any time, and they have grave consequences. Therefore, healthcare institutions such as hospitals should ensure they have are well prepared to handle them. Hazard vulnerability analysis (HVA) refers to the process for identifying a healthcare facility’s most significant

vulnerabilities
to hazards and the potential effects of the hazards on the operations of the facility and the surrounding community. It is a mode of focusing attention on the hazards that most likely to affect the hospital and community. These hazards may hamper hospital activities and strain their effectiveness in providing these services. HVA is useful in enhancing the disaster preparedness of

healthcare
institutions. Nevertheless, HVA is subjective

for
it is based on the opinions and preferences of those tasked with developing it. Most HVAs are not adherent to the to any recognized standards or measures which limits their effectiveness

.
HVA should be uniform and encompass all the aspects of the facility.

(
Fares et al., 2011)

HVA is effective in strengthening the

hospitals’
preparedness for tackling disasters when they are developed based on a uniform and comprehensive approach. The effectiveness of HVA is dependent on the accuracy of data collection and assessment. Conducting detailed hazard evaluation ensures the HVA is useful and can be efficiently used to improve disaster preparedness.

How I would Carry out HVA

The first step would be to assess all the potential risks and vulnerabilities the facility may encounter. I would after that analyze the probability of occurrence of these disasters. These may be natural, technological or human-made hazards. After that, I would evaluate the expected impacts of these hazards on patients, medical personnel and facility. This is followed by a detailed assessment of the available measures for tackling the hazards. Finally, I would assess the available internal and external resources or expertise in mitigating the impacts of the risks.

The hazards that the facility is more prone to are natural hazards such as hurricanes and human-triggered risks such as fires. The hospital’s emergency department is fairly prepared to tackle these disasters. Moreover, the external community is not adequately equipped or strengthened for effective disaster response. Nevertheless, the institution is well-prepared to mitigate fire-related accidents. The hospital administrators can use the above analysis to improve its existing emergency plan and strengthen the external community resources for effective disaster response. The facility may procure more equipment and hire more personnel to its emergency department.

Conclusion

The use of hazard vulnerability analysis enables institutions to prepare well for response to disasters and emergencies effectively. The risks that are analyzed enhance ample planning, response and mitigation activities. HVA has proved to be useful if implemented accordingly. Moreover, the development HVA should encompass all aspects of the facility and shouldn’t be based on a single person’s opinion or intuition. All hazards should be considered and addressed when carrying out an HVA. An HVA that is carried out properly is effective in improving disaster preparedness of a facility.

According to Campbell, Trockman, & Walker, (2011), the HVA development can demonstrate its effectiveness especially if it can identify the different vulnerabilities and hazards that are in a particular facility. Its effectiveness can be therefore be identified through how it can identify hazards, how they can impact the health facility and provide a sneak of the different ways the risks can be evaluated. Ones it identifies the different risk factors, the factors are taken into consideration during the formulation of the response strategy. With those considerations, one can conclude that the HVA is effective in its intended purpose. On the other hand, its operations can be termed to be very subjective basing on the fact that the ratings of the hazards are done according to the people’s preference and intuition. Variations of the tools that conduct the risk assessments vary from one hospital to another since there are no specific guidelines on how they are used.

In developing a HVA the most suitable approach that I would use is the factoring method. This method involves the evaluation and identification of the most probable vulnerabilities that are likely to occur. After their identification, this would be followed by the assessment of the impact that they may cause in case they happen. Lastly, I would incorporate the different preparedness measures to take on each in the incident they happen.

HVA for Temple University Hospital

One of the hospitals that are found in the community I live is that of Temple University Hospital which can benefit very much from HVA. Examples of vulnerabilities that are likely to affect this health care facility include electrical failure, cyber-attacks, supply shortage, labor actions and floods. In the instance these risks attack the hospital the normal operations are likely to be affected. This, therefore, means that the development of a HVA would be appropriate to address the hazards.

According to the analysis done by the HVA to the hospital, it is notable that the percentage at which the facility is exposed to risks and hazards is high. This is because of the preparedness strategies that the hospital has been very low. With this information, the management of the hospital should pass this to the university management to add more resources to the hospital to become more prepared to face these hazards.

MN501 Unit 8 Where Did Theory Come From Discussion

Where Did Theory Come From

The purpose of this Assignment is to explore how a theorist explicates his or her philosophy and thoughts behind a theoretical field. As in other fields of study, nursing has a plethora of theorists and theories. These theorists have developed their paradigm over time enriching it with research and dialogue with other theorists.

Directions

In this assignment, you are going to explore how a nurse theorist of your choice created his or her theory.

You will become the theorist immersing yourself in the writings from the earliest mentioned to the most current literature.

Writing in the voice of the theorist (taking on the persona of the theorist) create the theory through the following four stages.

In the first stage, theorizing occurs. This is where you, as the theorist, identify the concepts of what nursing is and is not. Perhaps you questioned what concepts were guiding those in nursing practice and then started to question your role. You started asking yourself, “Where am I in nursing, and where the profession is going? Is there some overarching concept that guides the professional in his or her practice?” This is where you recognize that a theory is needed.

In the second stage, syntax is developed. This is where you will define the terms. Look for changing definitions of terms. Consider, for example, Jean Watson. She starts by defining the word “caring.” Within the last ten years she has refined her terminology changing the term caring to caritas. This demonstrates a growth and maturation from decades of research she and other scholars did to produce the theory of caring.

The third stage is theory testing. Defined as the phenomena behind the theory that are exposed through research. The definitions of terms are refined. The theorists and other researchers consider whether this theory helps answer questions that arise in practice. This is where your theory is used in by a widening group of researchers. For example, graduate nursing students request the tool you developed while testing your theory.

The fourth and last stage is evaluation. This is where philosophical debate occurs as the concepts are applied through evidenced based practice in the act of providing nursing care.Assignment Details

Project assignment is to have you do more research on the physical security topic

Project assignment is to have you do more research on the physical security topic. In theory, everything may look straight forward, however, in real life it might not be like that. In this project you will need to do some research and find an article where physical security has failed. It can be a server room breach, it can be a data center breach, and any scenario that physical security has failed would be your subject.

1. Find an article (from a reputable magazine or link) describing where physical security has failed.

2. Submit a review of this article. Propose a possible change in that organization’s physical security that could have prevented the breach/failure for that scenario. What do you think would have prevented the incident?

3. Submit at least 2 but no more than 3 pages double spaced, APA style MS Word document.

4. No photos or graphs.

5. Reference all sources used.
