social problem

Your Final Paper should include a problem statement or description of the social problem you have selected, a discussion of the scope and consequences of the problem, and an assessment of society’s responses to the problem (including public policies and other less formal responses). 3. Explain why this problem qualifies as a social problem.
  4. Indicate the sociological theory or theories that may explain this social problem.
  5. Discuss the individual and social implications of this problem. Your discussion of implications should be supported by accurate research data.
  6. Summarize what social science experts have to say about this social problem. Are their conclusions methodologically sound?
  7. Explain what we, as a society, have done about this problem, considering public policies and other less formal responses.
  8. Explain how well societal efforts to solve the social problem are working.
  9. Describe an alternative.
  10. Discuss why the alternative is, or can be, an effective response to the problem. Remember to consider negative consequences of the alternative response.

For a Deaf Son

Please watch this powerful movie titled: For a Deaf Son. It is subtitled and also can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCzl4kuWLw0

First rule: Please, everyone, have respect. It’s ok to agree to disagree as long as we respect each other’s opinion. I REFUSE to deduce any points if I don’t agree with your opinion. I don’t believe in bias, but I believe in your opinions being heard.

Questions:

1) Do you support the father’s side? If so, why? If not, why?

2) Do you support the mother’s side? If so, why? If not, why?

3) What do you think you MIGHT DO if you are the parent of a Deaf child?

4) Please post your own comment  post at least a response to one other student’s comment to receive full credit.

EDIT: This movie might piss you off royally and might trigger you some strong emotions but it’ll help you understand how Deaf Community go through.

response this one please

1) Do you support the father’s side? If so, why? If not, why?

I feel that the father took a very hands-off approach causing the mother to have to do the day to day care all alone. This neglect of support for the mother and his children caused undue stress for the family. So when the father went out and did research the wife didn’t trust his opinions. Had the father been more hands-on in caring for his son I think he would have had more influence. I support his desire to teach his the son to sign.

2) Do you support the mother’s side? If so, why? If not, why?

I think the mother was way too stressed and worried because of her own ignorance and bias.

I think the mom not only cheated her son but she cheated herself.

3) What do you think you MIGHT DO if you are the parent of a Deaf child?

It was very difficult to care for my children before they could communicate with me and also when they became teenagers and refused to communicate. I found that teaching my youngest son to sign before he could talk was amazing. He had chronic ear infections which affected his ability to hear clearly until he had tubes put in when he was two. Because he could sign, he screamed a lot less then he would have and I would know what he needed.

If anyone in my life lost their hearing or was born without hearing I would absolutely support them and anything that would help them live to their potential.

4) Please post your own comment and post at least a response to one other student’s comment to receive full credit.

I was surprised by the fear and ignorance portrayed by the hearing individuals concerning deaf individuals and the deaf community.

It seems so obviously counter-intuitive to force someone to communicate in a way that only serves the other person. Communication is about relating to each other. That is one thing about sign language, you have to pay attention to not only the hands but to the body language too. People need communication. Sign language is such a beautiful and expressive form of communication.

What are the “flows” within a supply chain, and why are they important

Write 400–600 Words That Respond To The Following Questions With Your Thoughts, Ideas, And Comments. Be Substantive And Clear, And Use Examples To Reinforce Your >

The Director of Operations for your company has been trying to introduce logistics and supply chain management principles to your management team without much success. She has excitedly called you into her office to discuss a seminar she attended last week. During the seminar, she participated in a distribution simulation, referred to as “The Beer Game” (see supporting materials below). She commented that the simulation gave her a complete understanding of what the supply chain is, the dynamics of a supply chain, and how it operates. She also found several articles that explain logistics and supply chain management very well. She requested that you conduct research to provide her with talking points that cover the fundamentals of logistics and the supply chain. She asked that you include the following in your talking points:

·  Provide an overview of a supply chain, including the elements that make up a supply chain.

·  What are the “flows” within a supply chain, and why are they important?

·  What are supply chain coordination and supply chain disruption, and how are these manifested in a supply chain?

brainstorm to find specific problems that are central to your life and your community

For this essay you will brainstorm to find specific problems that are central to your life and your community. Picking your topic might be one of the most difficult parts of the essay – you must narrow your topic so you can effectively execute one problem and one solution to that problem. This will be covered in 3-4 pages. You want to pick a problem that you have a personal investment in, a problem that you have observed for some time, a problem that you can speak about with authority. Avoid overused essay topics. Report on a topic that provides new information to your audience, something that cannot easily be Googled. You will not conduct any research. You should use personal experience and observations to support your points and you should be able to show your audience your problem and analyze why it is a problem. Finally, you will offer your solution for change.

Ask yourself many questions during the drafting process: Who is affected? What does my audience need to know? Why? What can they gain? Why is this topic an important problem? What experiences will show my problem? Is my solution realistic and reasonable?

What to consider/ include:

– Before you write, you should know who your target audience is.

– Your introduction should set up the problem and this setup of the problem should lead to your thesis.

– Your thesis needs to be an arguable claim about why this issue is a problem.

– Your body paragraphs should provide examples that show the problem. Your body paragraphs should also analyze these examples and their significance.

– Your conclusion should look to the future. Explore the possibilities and positive outcomes your solution can bring.

– You should know what tone will be most effective.

– You have freedom to explore “voice,” but make sure that your problem and solution stay serious.
